When you set out to exercise we know you have good intentions.  Your going to make goals like walking everyday, going to the gym, lifting weights and doing yoga.  Although the intent to do these activities is there sometimes exercise may feel difficult because of the additional weight or pressure you have on your body (ahem, the baby).  The best way to exercise is often to keep it simple.  This allows for less excuses as to why you cannot exercise.  That’s why a great companion to have for working out is the mini band.

Here’s why:

You can use the mini bands to help the glutes do more work, while reducing the stress placed on your body by piling on weight to make the exercise harder. By strengthening the glutes, you can take pressure off of your joints, namely the sacroiliac (SI) joint. The SI joint lies next to the bottom of the spine and connects the sacrum to the pelvis. Pressure or dysfunction to this joint can be what makes your lower back or legs hurt.

Some exercises you can do with your new best friend are:

Side shuffles
Glute bridges
Clamshells
Squats
Side lying leg raises

Try incorporating the mini band in your workouts and see if there is a difference. Don’t have a mini band? Contact us!
