National Women’s Health Week is an observance with the goal to empower women to make their health a priority. The week also serves as a time to help women understand what steps they can take to improve their health. The 17th annual National Women’s Health Week kicks off on Mother’s Day, May 8, and is celebrated through May 14, 2016.

We feel that fitness and exercise has great benefits to help women take control of their own health and make it their priority.  In addition to getting out their and being physically active you can make health your priority in a number of other ways:

  • Visit a doctor or nurse for a well-woman visit (checkup) and preventive screenings.
  • Get active.
  • Eat healthy.
  • Pay attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress.
  • Avoid unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking, texting while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet.

We encourage you to take “the pledge” that the National Women’s Health Week has put forth and then let us know here on this page that you did as well.  You can use this week as a starting point for renewing your exercise goals.

Be sure to stay tuned to our Facebook page for daily updates on women’s health and hear inspiring stories about how fitness has played a major role in the health of women!
