One Fowl Reason to Eat Organic | The Dirty Bird

I’ve always been a big proponent on eating organic and when possible local food.  Some of you remember the little saying “you are what you eat, eats.”  If you love drugs and consuming drugs of all shapes and sizes with all shapes and sizes of side effects then read no further because what I’m about to say won’t phase you.  For those of you that want more motivation to not eat radioactively tainted, drugged up, steroid-laden chicken then read on.

In the latest issue of Men’s Journal I came across a stat that just blew my mind.  Are you ready?

66% of commercial chicken feed contains banned drugs like Tylenol, Prozac and Benadryl to reduce anxiety in chickens.

Are you kidding me?  Personally, I do not take any of these drugs on any sort of a regular basis and even more of a once in a lifetime for some.

And for those that say organic is more expensive.  If you only ate the amount that is needed to sustain life and maintain a healthy weight than the price drops considerably.

Do you eat organic?  If you don’t what’s stopping you?

Eddie and I eat organic chicken, ground beef and grass feed meat after reading a similiar statistic. We think it tastes better too!

  2. Seth says:

We try to eat as much organic as possible.
