Today we have guest blog post from Adam and Kaitlyn Townsend of Fellowship Massage Therapy in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Here are five tips that will help reduce your stress in 2018!

Make Stress Relief Your Resolution

It’s said that up to 83% of Americans feel stressed from work. Considering that’s where we spend a majority of our time, finding ways to relax is something we should all strive for in the New Year. Getting a massage is great, and highly recommended, but there are other ways to find physical, mental and emotional relief that don’t break the bank.

Drinking water is also a great way to rejuvenate your mind and body. Staying hydrated helps battle fatigue, help relieve headaches and muscle tension, flushes out toxins that live in your body and much more. It is recommended that you drink half of your body weight in ounces each day. Not an easy feat!

Exercise is another avenue to help relieve stress. Many people enjoy high impact forms of exercise to release the tension and stress that they carry. However, a simple walk outside can clear your mind and get your muscles feeling loose.

Stretching is a simple, yet effecting way to help reduce stress and muscle tension. Taking a few minutes each day to stretch can make a world of difference. Whether you are sitting or standing all day, stretching those over used muscles can help ease the tension and tightness that you experience.

Breathing is another simple, yet effective way to decrease your stress level. Set aside a few minutes each day to take a few deep breaths and notice how much it can help the way you feel.

Natural remedies, like the use of aromatherapy, can also help us find balance. Scents like orange or lavender can make us feel at ease, whether you diffuse them at home or place a few drops on your skin. If you are using topically, remember to always dilute the essential oil in a carrier oil, such as grape
seed or coconut oil.

As much as we might want to get a massage every week, that just isn’t possible for most of us.This year, challenge yourself to find creative ways of taking a break. Stress relief isn’t something that has to take up a lot time, and it can make the world of difference!
