You’ve had your baby, time is more precious to you now and you feel like you have less of it.  You want to spend that time with your new bundle of joy but you know that exercise is important to keep YOU healthy.  We’ve discussed the importance of exercising post baby before but how do we actually F.I.T. (pun intended) exercise in during a very busy day? Here are four tips to finding time to exercise.

  • You don’t need a lot of time. Increasing the intensity of the workout while decreasing the duration will allow you to get your heart rate up quicker and give you a great workout in just minutes.

  • Take the baby with you. Whether it is a jog or walk outside with the stroller or a small space in your family room with the baby in the swing, you can find a few minutes to do some exercise while the baby is content.

  • Use the baby as your weights! Squat while holding the baby or do a push up or a plank with the baby laying in front of you. Even if you get just a few in, they might think you are doing something fun with them.
  • Plan your workouts in advance. Take a few minutes to plan 5 workouts. Write them down and rotate them as you finish. When you don’t have to plan each workout beforehand,  it turns into a BIG time saver.

Remember that your workouts can make you feel stronger, happier and have more energy for your baby. So take some time away if you can and come back feeling great!
