This past Saturday, October 1st, was the annual “Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes” walk held at the Art Museum in Philadelphia.  As I mentioned previously I participated in the walk for “The Lyon’s Clan” in support of my girlfriend’s dad who has type 1 diabetes.

It was a great time for a great cause and the weather was perfect!  3,250 people came out to walk for diabetes raising .  We were able to raise over $300.00 as a team which added to the total contribution of the event to $460,000.

Walking is a great way for diabetics to exercise.  I highlighted what types of exercise a type 2 diabetic should do in my last post “Diabetic Overdrive“.  The next post will feature how exercise impacts for type 1 diabetics.

Also, a reminder that World Diabetes Day is also coming up on November 14th.  How will you show your blue color?  Stay tuned for information on diabetes and events for this date.

Have you ever wondered how you can help stop diabetes?
